Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell Partner Marna Tucker Honored by NOW

Legal Times Names Tucker One of the 90 Greatest Lawyers of the Last 30 Years 

The National Organization for Women (NOW) recently honored Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell Partner Marna Tucker with the 2008 “Intrepid Award” for her inspiring and trailblazing legal career.

Each year, NOW and the NOW Foundation give the “Intrepid Award” to women in a variety of fields who are resolutely courageous, fearless, and bold. Ms. Tucker, who was elected as the first female president of the District of Columbia Bar and of the National Conference of Bar Presidents, was honored for her leadership in the legal community. 

She joins a distinguished group of 2008 Intrepid honorees, including: CBS News Anchor Katie Couric; Chair and President Emerita of the National Council of Negro Women Dr. Dorothy I. Height; Hon. Janet Reno, the first woman ever to serve as U.S. Attorney General; and Executive Vice President Emerita of the AFL-CIO, Linda Chavez-Thompson.

Ms. Tucker was also recently named “One of the 90 Greatest Lawyers of the Last 30 Years” by the Legal Times’ 30th Anniversary Issue.  She was honored as a “Visionary” among a select group of 30 lawyers whose foresight and hard work have changed the business of law in Washington, D.C.

“I am deeply honored to be recognized by NOW and the Legal Times,” said Ms. Tucker. “In both instances, I am privileged to join such an accomplished and diverse group, all who have been pioneers in their fields.”

Ms. Tucker has practiced law in the domestic relations field for over 30 years, and is a nationally known expert in complex divorces, domestic violence and prenuptial matters. A founding board member of the National Women's Law Center, Ms. Tucker chaired the Mayor's Commission on Violence Against Women in Washington, D.C. and the Federal Judicial Center Foundation Board.  She is also a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers and of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers.

Among many other awards, the American Bar Association has honored Ms. Tucker with its Margaret Brent Women Lawyers of Achievement Award and the Robert Drinan Distinguished Service Award. She was also honored by the Women's Bar Association of the District of Columbia as Woman Lawyer of the Year. Washingtonian Magazine recognized her several times as one of the "Top Divorce Lawyers" and “Top Lawyers” in Washington, D.C.
