Adam Falk offers advice on the Board's role in hiring and evaluating a CEO

On February 19, 2009, Adam Falk spoke in a webinar organized by the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) on the board of director's role in recruiting and evaluating the CEO.  Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act requires a health center board to approve the selection and, if necessary, the dismissal of the health center's CEO.  As an extension of this duty, the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Health Resources and Services Administration expects the board of directors to evaluate the performance of the CEO and hold him or her accountable for the performance of the health center.  The webinar explored the board's role in recruiting and evaluating the CEO, identifying considerations in hiring and the "why", "when" and "how" of conducting the annual evaluation.
