Family Law partner Mary S. Pence has just returned from the annual meeting of the Uniform Law Commission (“ULC”) at which a uniform statute creating certain protections and setting minimum standards for the practice of collaborative law nationwide has been passed by the ULC after the Second Reading of the statute. Ms. Pence has been an Observer to the Drafting Committee for a Uniform Collaborative Law Act (“UCLA”) for approximately two years. She believes this is a very strong statute, and looks forward to its approval by the American Bar Association at its mid-year meeting in February, 2010, and then its passage by state legislatures across the country. |
