On November 19, 2013, FTLF attorney Cary Feldman was sworn in as a member of the Maryland Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB). His appointment to this part-time position by Maryland’s Secretary of Public Safety and Correctional Services, Gary Maynard, was approved by Governor Martin O’Malley on October 30.

The CICB is a remedial body responsible for providing aid and assistance to victims of crime in Maryland. It reviews and evaluates claims for compensation and reimbursement from the Criminal Victims Compensation Fund, and holds hearings on appeals by petitioners whose claims have been denied or not fully funded. The CICB pays out millions of dollars in victims’ compensation every year.
