Phillip A. Escoriaza‘s bilingual, nationwide practice serves community health centers, non-profit organizations, municipalities, local government agencies, educational institutions, and other federal grantees, helping them to achieve their full potential.

An attorney for more than 25 years, as well as a TV and radio news commentator, university professor, and public servant in both the executive and legislative branches of Puerto Rico’s government, Mr. Escoriaza taps into each of these unique experiences to deliver exceptional service to his clients.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Escoriaza had his own law firm in San Juan, Puerto Rico, for more than 10 years. His practice spanned corporate, eminent domain, business and contract law, and included contested matters and appeals before Puerto Rico and federal courts. His public policy and government affairs specialization included serving as Executive Director of the Puerto Rico Senate Committee on Government Affairs, responsible for reviewing all major legislation pending before the Senate, as well as consulting contracts with the Office of the Governor of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Public Broadcasting Corporation.

As General Counsel and Director of the Office of Legal Affairs at the University of Puerto Rico, Mr. Escoriaza was responsible for all legal matters impacting the University’s flagship Rio Piedras campus of 20,000 students and 5,000 employees. As a litigation attorney in Connecticut, Mr. Escoriaza handled domestic relations, personal injury and business matters in trial and appellate courts. He has also taught upper-level courses at Interamerican University of Puerto Rico, including United States Foreign Policy, International Relations, Comparative Politics, Environmental Law, Middle East Politics, Latin American Politics, Interamerican Relations, Developing Countries and Third World Politics, and International Conflicts and Collaboration.

Mr. Escoriaza is a familiar face to many in the Spanish-speaking market, providing legal and world news analysis Telemundo (NBCUniversal) nationwide broadcasts. In Puerto Rico, he appeared regularly on radio broadcasts as well as Univision’s nightly prime time television show, “Los Seis de la Tarde.”

A resident of Washington, DC, Mr. Escoriaza enjoys exploring the city and spending time with his family, who share his passion for health, communications, learning and the arts. His wife is a journalist with a focus on multimedia public health education, and their daughter is a surgeon.

Mr. Escoriaza also serves on the Executive Committee of the Yale Law School Association.
