Drawing on his more than twenty-five years of experience, family law partner Jonathan Dana presented on advanced topics in divorce law at a seminar on November 1, 2012 sponsored by the District of Columbia Bar Pro Bono Program entitled “Complex Divorce Law Training for Legal Service Providers and Pro Bono Attorneys.”  Before an audience of approximately forty experienced practitioners, Jonathan covered a wide array of topics in divorce law, including the equitable distribution of marital property, the handling of marital debts, best practices in discovery, and obtaining awards of attorneys’ fees.

All participants received copies of a manual on these subjects prepared by Jonathan and family law associate Alexandra Harwin.  In addition to explaining the law of the District of Columbia, Jonathan gave tactical, strategic, and practical advice and urged practitioners to be creative when confronting complex family situations.  For more on Jonathan’s approach to complex family law issues, click here.
