FTLF Supports Community Health Centers During 2015 National Health Center Week
As part of National Health Center Week 2015 (NHCW), communities nationwide will celebrate, honor and raise awareness for the services health centers provide each year to medically underserved populations.
The nationwide initiative, which runs from August 9 to August 15, 2015, seeks to cultivate community pride and build support for the health center program. As part of this weeklong event, health centers will tell stories about the community-based healthcare model under which they operate, and its success in providing affordable, high-quality healthcare services to patients. The theme for NHCW 2015 is “America’s Health Centers – Celebrating Our Legacy, Shaping Our Future.”
In order to help health centers raise awareness, the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) provides a toolkit with tools and resources that health centers can use to coordinate and plan community events, craft messages to recognize the importance of health centers in communities, and raise public awareness.
Health centers provide high-quality preventive and primary health care to patients regardless of their ability to pay. Nearly 1,300 health centers operate more than 9,000 service delivery sites in every U.S. state, D.C., and U.S. Territories and care for nearly 22 million patients. For millions of Americans, including some of the most vulnerable individuals and families, health centers are the essential medical home where they find services that promote health, diagnose and treat disease and disability, and help cope with environmental challenges that put them at risk.
At Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP, we recognize NHCW 2015 and support health centers for their year-round work that provides affordable and accessible care for those most in need.
