FTLF Managing Partner Ted Waters Featured on WUSA9

FTLF Managing Partner and national grant law specialist, Ted Waters was featured in WUSA9’s VERIFY segment about President Trump’s ability to pull grant funding from specific cities and states.

The discussion focused on President Trump’s September 2, 2020 memorandum, in which he ordered the review of federal grant funds to states and local governments that are “permitting anarchy, violence, and destruction,” namely, Portland, Oregon, New York City, Seattle, Washington, and Washington, DC.

In the video clip, Mr. Waters notes that “it is unlikely that President Trump can claw back the funding from the jurisdictions because it is outside of the President’s constitutional powers. ‘Under the Constitution, the branch of government that is responsible for taxing and spending — including grants, of course — is the U.S Congress, not the executive branch.’”
