Washington, DC – May 12, 2021 – Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP is pleased to announce Senior Counsel Phillip A. Escoriaza’s new leadership role as a member of the Yale Law School Association (YLSA) Executive Committee for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2021.

“I am honored to be selected to serve on the Yale Law School Association Executive Committee along with a distinguished group of fellow alumni and leaders in our profession,” said Mr. Escoriaza. “This new role combines my interests in higher education, law, and public service, and I am delighted to contribute to the Law School and to support our profession in this new fashion.”

The YLSA Executive Committee provides advisory support to the Law School and the Dean, and consists of approximately 200 graduates and friends of Yale Law School.  Members are a diverse group of alumni from different parts of the country and world, from various class years, who pursue careers in a broad range of fields. Executive Committee members serve as Yale Law alumni ambassadors through active volunteerism that includes mentoring current students and recent graduates, recruiting new students, assisting the Law School Administration in various liaison and strategic activities and strengthening relationships with the local communities where members live and work through Yale Law School’s regional events.

Mr. Escoriaza earned an A.B. degree in Politics from Princeton in 1990 and served for two years as Assistant to the Counselor to the Governor of Puerto Rico and Assistant to the President of the Government Development Bank before enrolling at Yale Law School, where he earned his J.D. in 1995.  While in law school, Mr. Escoriaza was an editor in the Yale Law Journal on Regulation and an editor in the Yale Journal on Law and the Humanities.  As a clinical student practitioner in the Jerome N. Frank Legal Services Organization at Yale Law School, he persuaded immigration authorities to grant political asylum to individuals fleeing persecution in the Middle East, the Far East, and Africa on account of their beliefs and political activities.

A native of Puerto Rico, Mr. Escoriaza’s bilingual, nationwide practice serves community health centers, non-profit organizations, municipalities, local government agencies, educational institutions, and other federal grantees.  An attorney for more than 25 years, as well as a TV and radio news commentator, university professor, former General Counsel for the University of Puerto Rico (Rio Piedras), and public servant in both the executive and legislative branches of Puerto Rico’s government, Mr. Escoriaza taps into each of these unique experiences to deliver exceptional service to his clients.

About the YLSA Executive Committee Selection Process

Each spring, Law School community members submit names of alumni who might like to participate on this Committee. Mr. Escoriaza was selected for this honor from among a larger group of nominees.
