Washington, DC – Experienced litigator and former federal attorney Derek M. Adams has joined Feldesman Tucker Leifer Fidell LLP as a partner in its False Claims Act (FCA) and Litigation practice groups. Mr. Adams will represent companies, individuals, non-profit and for-profit organizations, universities, and local governments facing a variety of investigations and legal actions under the FCA, and related statutes.
Mr. Adams brings extensive experience in government investigations and litigation under the FCA and the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act of 1989 (FIRREA).

Mr. Adams began his career at the cusp of the financial crisis with a leading Am Law 50 law firm. He worked on precedent setting cases stemming from the financial crisis, including a landmark FCA and FIRREA action in the Southern District of New York. Mr. Adams also successfully represented defendants in a number of other cases involving alleged breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, breach of contract, fraudulent inducement, and securities fraud.
Prior to joining Feldesman Tucker, Mr. Adams served as a Trial Attorney with the Department of Justice’s Civil Fraud Section where he worked on complex cases under the FCA and FIRREA. In under five years, his matters recovered more than $2 billion for the public fisc.
Mr. Adams is an influential voice in legal developments impacting FCA and FIRREA litigation, and regularly writes and speaks on these topics.
